IPERS Funded Ratio Improves

At its meeting on December 5, the IPERS Investment Board announced that IPERS’ funded ratio was 92.17% as of June 30, 2025. At the end of FY2024, the funded ratio was 90.75%. The funded ratio equals the value of assets divided by the cost of promised benefits (liabilities). IPERS is on schedule to achieve full funding no later than FY2044. Mailing Reminders

Before January 31, 2026, IPERS will mail a Form 1099-R to all members who received any payment from IPERS 2025. The document may not arrive until early February, however. The form will also be available in My Account. Now is the perfect time to ensure that IPERS has your correct mailing information, so you receive important correspondence from us. Whether you travel to a temporary winter home, you’ve moved recently, or you are unsure whether your contact information is up to date, you can verify or change your address in IPERS’ My Account.

Use direct deposit to receive your benefit payment quickly and safely

IPERS strongly encourages its retirees to receive benefit payments via direct deposit rather than a paper warrant. You can manage how you receive your monthly payment in My Account or by contacting IPERS. Direct deposit ensures that you’ll receive your payment quickly and safely. And you’ll save a $1 monthly fee.

Keep your personal information safe

View IPERS' Fraud Prevention page for information about how to ensure the security of your personal information. IPERS on the Road

Thank you to everyone who joined IPERS in Cedar Rapids on December 3. During our inaugural IPERS On The Road event, we connected with hundreds of eastern Iowa members who:

  • met with staff for personalized one-on-one retirement planning sessions,

  • attended one of two general IPERS informational sessions, or

  • joined IPERS CEO Greg Samorajski for a town hall

Did you know with the CEO: The role of the Legislature

IPERS CEO Greg Samorajski shares answers to frequently asked questions on the Did You Know with the CEO page on IPERS’ website.

As we near the start of the new legislative session in January, it’s important to understand the role of IPERS’ “plan sponsors,” the legislature and the Governor. The plan sponsors create the laws and rules that govern IPERS. IPERS is the plan administrator and administers the plan according to those laws.  Members who have thoughts about any aspects of IPERS’ administration are encouraged to contact their Senator or Representative.
