If you feel you've received communication claiming to be from IPERS that appears suspicious, you can report it to IPERS staff using this form.

These tips can help you determine the authenticity of communication from IPERS.

  • IPERS does not solicit personal information like Social Security numbers or bank account information by email, which is not a secure form of communication.
  • IPERS does not typically make outbound calls to members asking for personal details unless you have specifically requested a call from us.
  • IPERS will only call you during business hours, 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday – Friday.
  • IPERS staff emails end with @ipers.org.
  • Only IPERS staff can access your IPERS account.
  • IPERS staff will never offer to meet at your home.
  • IPERS staff do not sell insurance products.
  • IPERS staff can provide information about your IPERS benefits only; we do not provide financial planning services.
  • IPERS staff will not cold call you offering to set up a meeting to discuss your benefits.

Below is an example of a potentially fraudulent email. Notice the circled areas below which indicate the red flags that can help members know that communication is not from IPERS.

Examples of fraud, non-IPERs email, don't click on links if you're not sure who the email is from. The area code on the phone number is not 515, and do not reply to emails that you are uncertain who they are from. Report fraud at www.ipers.org/report-fraud
